How To Factory Reset/Reinstall Windows On The One Mix 3 Series Laptops
In this guide, we're going to walk you through reinstalling Windows on the various One Mix 3 series devices. This includes the One Mix 3s Plus , The One Mix 3 Platinum, the One Mix 3 Pro Platinum (confusing names, right?); no matter the model, the overall process is very similar.
There are many reasons you might need to reinstall Windows. Perhaps you've tried installing a different operating system (maybe some kind of Linux distro?) and it didn't end up working too well. Or maybe you just want to perform a bout of "spring cleaning". Maybe it's even part of a troubleshooting process? Whatever the reason, it'll be a great idea to keep this guide at hand.
First - you'll need to decide how you're going to go about it. Are you performing a reset, or a full reinstall?
If you're performing a reinstall, you can download the firmware for the One Mix 3 Series here.
If you're just performing a reinstall, move onto the next section...
How To Factory Reset
To perform a reset, you'll need to make sure you have One Netbook's version of Windows installed on your device. If you don't have it installed, you can download it here:
First, turn on the device while pressing ESC. You'll be taken into the BIOS.
The screen may be flipped,. but the inputs are not! Input the right/left arrows until you hit the "Save & Exit" tab.
Then use the up/down arrows to navigate to "UEFI OS (FORSEE 256GB SSD)" (the actual name might vary slightly depending on your model.
You'll be taken into a new menu with three choices available:
- Backup
- System Recovery
- and Continuing to Windows
Select System Recovery, confirm your selection and... that's it! The reset will continue as normal.
How To Reinstall Windows
Sometimes we hear reports of people installing Windows via generic installation media. Most often because the One Mix doesn't have their required language available at first-launch.
To note, this is wholly unnecessary, as it is possible to change the language of Windows without performing a complete reinstall.
If the damage has already been done, you'll need to reinstall the One-Netbook-specific Windows installation, containing the drivers, system recovery method, and more.
You'll need to download the image file containing the firmware here. You'll also need a USB memory stick of at least 16gb in size.
Download Win32 Disk Imager, click the blue folder icon, navigate to the downloaded image file and select it.
Also, make sure that the drive letter matches your inserted USB drive. Press "Write", and the process will begin.
Once completed, you can safely remove your USB drive.
Now insert the USB drive into the device, access the BIOS (see the previous section), and select the item that corresponds to your USB (i.e., if you are using a Kingston USB, it might read "Kingston Datatraveller".
The installation should then proceed automatically!
Once completed , you'll also be able to perform a System Recovery/Factory Reset for the device as per the previous section of this guide!
