My GPD Device Isn't Powering On!
When using the Win 2, Pocket 2, P2 Max, and so on, you may be a victim of the unfortunate circumstance of some form of battery-related issue. Perhaps the screen stays black, or it might only run while the charger is inserted. Whatever the reason is, we've compiled a few quick troubleshooting tips and fixes you can attempt to try and resolve the issue on your own.
Note:
When using your GPD device (Win 2, Pocket 2, etc.) - PLEASE DO NOT LET THE BATTERY FULLY DISCHARGE, and then leave it discharged. We believe the most common cause of this issue is users letting the battery hit 0%, then leaving it like this for an extended period of time.
Try Charging It!
While this may seem obvious when mentioned to you, you just might have looked it over because it's obvious.
Give the charger and USB-C cable that came with your device a go. If they don't work, if possible, try other chargers and cables? It could be that you've received a low-battery device as well as a faulty charger/cable.
If charging it with the native and/or alternative chargers/cables doesn't work, you can try...
Power Cycling The Device
Power Cycling is a age-old troubleshooting technique that can be applied to a variety of devices, and the GPD products are no exception in this regard.
To power cycle your device, please perform the following steps.
- Disconnect the charge cable from the device
- Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds
- Reconnect the charge cable and let it charge overnight (8 hours)
- Disconnect the charge cable from the device
- Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds until the logo appears
Power Cycling might not fix things, however, in which case you can try...
Press The Reset Button (Win 2 Only)
Newer models of the Win 2 come with a handy feature - a reset button connected directly to the board.
Using a small object such as a tootpick or paperclip, press and hold the reset button located in the small hole next to the USB port for around 3-5 seconds.
After doing this, attempt to power it on if it still doesn't work, attempt to power cycle the device once more as per the previous section.
Conclusion
If after attempting these three steps, you're still unssuccessful, it may unfortunately be that your device has a faulty battery. We would highly suggest contacting the seller, as they will most likely be able to provide further assistance.
(And if that seller is us at DroiX, email us at support@droix.co.uk with your order number, and provided you're within the 1-year warranty we currently offer, we can get a working Win 2 with you as soon as possible!)
